(Pre-7.0) Priest Abilities


General priest abilities:

Levitate - Makes himself or someone else float about a foot off the ground for 10 minutes or until the target dismisses it or is injured. It’s not true flight: it doesn’t go any higher. If you jump from a height with levitate on, you fall slowly enough to not be hurt, but you also tend to drift and can’t control the direction. It can be active on multiple people at the same time, but must be cast on each individually.

Dispel Magic - Can’t be cast on himself, but it does pretty much what it says, but only on a single target (and that target has to be a person). This is actually meant to dispel beneficial magical effects on enemies, so probably mostly irrelevant.

Mass Dispel - Dispel Magic, but it affects an area with a 15 yard radius. This one dispels both beneficial and harmful magical effects.

Fear Ward - Protects a single person from fear. Can be used on himself, but can only be cast on one person at a time.

Flash Heal - A quick healing spell.

Mind Vision - Let him see through someone else’s eyes for 1 minute.

Leap of Faith - Pulls someone else from their current location to right in front of him. Only works on consenting targets and doesn’t have a huge range – he might be able to pull someone across your average-sized room, but not farther than that.

Power Word: Shield - A single-target damage absorption shield. It looks like a glowing golden aura. Probably enough to protect from incidental damage or one solid hit.

Prayer of Mending - A healing spell that bounces between up to 5 injured people.

Shadow Word: Pain - This spell deals shadow damage

Silence - Silences someone briefly (5 seconds in the MMO, I guess for a sentence is the best equivalent?). This obviously would not prevent them from communicating in other ways.

Shackle Undead - Incapacitates a single undead being for a minute or until they take damage. Good for the zombie apocalypse (though likely inadequate).

Shadowfiend - Summons a small shadowy tentacled creature who will briefly attack anyone he attacks. (Shadowfiend is primarily for regenerating mana, so its damage is not all that impressive, but it does deal some. Also it looks cool – you know, if you like that Lovecraftian kind of look.)

Discipline Spells

Clarity of Will - Another damage absorption shield. This one can prevent more damage, but also takes much longer to cast.

Heal - another healing spell

Holy Fire, Smite - attack spells that do holy damage.

Holy Nova - An explosion of holy light in a small area around him. Deals damage to attackers, but also does minor healing for allies close enough.

Pain Suppression - Causes himself or one other person to take less damage. This doesn’t last long at all, but might be good for taking one hit or a wall falling on someone.

Penance - Pulses of holy light that either deal damage or heal, as he chooses.

Power Word Barrier - This spells summons a glowing dome of holy energy that reduces damage for everyone inside. It can fit ~20 people, as long as they’re all pretty friendly.

Prayer of Healing - Heals people in a ring with a 30 yard radius.

Purify - Cures a single person of diseases and harmful magical effects.

Shadow Spells

Shadowform - Makes him appear to be made of shadow, increases shadow damage (… for whatever that’s worth), and gives some protection from damage (roughly equivalent to wearing armor).

Halo - Creates a ring of shadow energy around him that expands and moves outward to a 30 yard radius and deals shadow damage to anyone hit.

Devouring Plague - Shadow damage ability that also heals him for the damage done. This is probably the most damaging shadow spell.

Dispersion - He can become pure shadow energy for a short time. Can be cast even if incapacitated and protects from damage, but he can’t do anything else but move while in this form.

Mind Blast, Mind Spike, Vampiric Touch - Single target shadow attack spells. (Well, technically Mind Spike is Shadowfrost.)

Mind Flay - Psychic attack with shadow energy, but this ability is channeled, so he can’t do anything else while casting it.

Mind Sear - Shadow damage, but this affects everyone within 10 yards of the target.

Void Tendrils - He can summon shadowy tentacles that can hold up to 5 people in place (assuming they’re pretty close together).
